About

Nilo (pronounced knee-loo) was born in Tehran, Iran and lived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates before moving to Vancouver, Canada.

Nilo graduated in May 2011 from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver with a B.A. in Political Science and French. While at UBC, she competed internationally at Model United Nations conferences, and loved every nerdy minute of it.

She recently graduated from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, with a Master’s of Science focusing on broadcast journalism, photojournalism and multimedia storytelling. This summer, she worked with Al Jazeera English in New York City producing video news packages, and worked with CTV British Columbia last winter in Vancouver, BC on the network’s four-hour live broadcast.

Nilo is currently working at NowThis News in New York, where she pitches, researches and produces video and breaking news stories for an online, mobile audience.

When she’s not reporting, Nilo loves going on photo adventures and learning new languages. She speaks French, Farsi and Azari-Turkish fluently.
